Communication structures create a reliable path when the exact words cannot be scripted.
Chapter 05 · 9 lessons · 1 hr 20 min
Structure reduces the listener's reconstruction burden. What–So What–Now What and Problem–Solution–Benefit are useful because they make the logic inspectable, not because three-part lists are inherently persuasive.
ARC II
Self-possession
How do I become myself?
The practical move
Structure follows the audience's question: orientation, diagnosis, comparison, or decision.
Support should sit next to the claim it proves; an evidence appendix cannot rescue an unsupported headline.
A good structure survives compression. The one-minute and ten-minute versions should preserve the same causal spine.
Panel lens
Communication structures create a reliable path when the exact words cannot be scripted.
His MasterClass lesson on clarity emphasizes curation, problem-finding, and helping an audience see a situation differently.
Faculty lenses are this guide’s synthesis of the public roster and public instructor specialties. The MasterClass overview does not assign every public module to a named instructor.
The Arc test
Where they align
Self-possession includes command of form. Structure lets a speaker decide what belongs, what follows, and where uncertainty must remain visible.
Where the Arc refuses
Form can create false confidence. A crisp three-part argument is still wrong if the causal claim, evidence boundary, or decision authority is wrong.
The lesson made visible
Express the same recommendation as What–So What–Now What and as Problem–Solution–Benefit. Note what each version makes visible and what each hides.
Output: Two message maps and one sentence choosing the better form for this audience.
